The focus age group for all the above projects is 14-25 years old.

UNZIPPED: The Peer led consultation programme (UNZIPPED) will take place in both the first and final years of the Community volunteer programme. It will train a group of young people to consult with their peers in order to find out what needs and concerns young people have within their community. The group will be responsible for the collection, input and analysis of data that they collect from consulting with other young people. The resulting report will be used to inform local policy makers, the Youth Forum and other organisations of potential developments in its work and help to identify the direction of future service provision.

GENERAL VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES: will be available to young people and other members of the community. Volunteering opportunities will be available within the Youth Forum or with partner organisations and all partner organisations will all agree to a 'minimum standards' framework to ensure consistancy across the partnership. Experiences will include 'real-life' working experiences including planning, delivery and evaluation of projects.

SSPIN PROJECT: The Peer Information Network project (SSPIN) will be open to young people who wish to become 'positive' role models within their community. On request we have run small pilot schemes whereby young people have become actively involved within their communities and we wish to expand on this by being able to offer a structured programme that offers the chance to develop a sense of citizenship.

REACH PROJECT: Not all young people will be ready or have the necessary skills and confidence to get actively involved in the above volunteering opportunities straight away so the Personal Development project (REACH) will offer a young people a framework to enable them to develop skills such as teamwork, communication, promoting self esteem and confidence. We will promote the community aspect by having a community project or element to every group. This will take place in partnership with local community groups and will involve either art, music or physical environmental improvements based upon the interests of the group and local need. REACH will act as a precursor to the UNZIPPED, SSPIN projects and GENERAL VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES. REACH will be offered to other local agencies to help support their clients/volunteers.

PARTICIPATION PROJECT:

Will aim to develop pieces of work with young people which will encourage their voice within their community through both direct involvement with existing project and the development of projects they feel will add to the vibrancy of community.

The projects will also be a vehicle with which to enable South Shropshire District Council meet it’s ‘Hear By Right’ obligations encouraging young people to be involved in the way in which the District Council organises and develops it’s operations.

DIVERSIONARY & OTHER ACTIVITIES

CRAVEN ARMS CRICKET PROJECT
CLEOBURY MORTIMER YOUTH FORUM
TALKBUS
INFORMATION & SUPPORT
MOBILE SKATE PARK

Diversionary activities are well established at the Youth Forum. The Forum will continue to work with partners in delivering projects that aim to give something constructive for young people to do.

Other projects are also well established, such as the outreach vehicle the ‘Talkbus’ and the information and support services. We aim to continue to develop these projects across the district.

The mobile skate park could potentially involve the Youth Forum by supporting other agencies and involving young people in the management and planning of its use.
