Pauline Clark Award
The Pauline Clark Award (PCA) is a small pot of money that was left to the youth of Ludlow by Pauline Clark, news editor of the Ludlow Advertiser and Tenbury Wells Advertiser before her untimely death in 2001.
The PCA gives small amounts of money to any young person under the age of 25 years, when they are unable to raise money from any other source.
To apply for this award a young person has to complete an application form, which can be obtained from the Youth Forum, Ludlow Foyer, Connexions or the Youth Service.
This year 2007/8, we have agreed to support applications to fund items such as driving tests and specialist clothing items for college courses.

Pauline was always gentle and courteous, but had a great sense of fun. She maintained regular contact with a huge number of people throughout the Advertiser's circulation area, in all walks of life. Many of them became good friends. She was popular, well-liked and especially known for her fastidious devotion to impartiality and accuracy, which won her great respect in the community.
There have been many tributes paid to Pauline.
Ludlow and Tenbury Wells Advertisers' editor Liz Griffin said: "Pauline was a thoroughly professional journalist who worked tirelessly for the good of the Ludlow Advertiser. She was totally hands-on as a reporter, setting high standards for other staff yet enthusiastically making the time to generate ideas for the paper's development and to represent it at all levels.
"She earned respect wherever she went for her commitment and I counted myself very fortunate to know that the day-to-day management of the Ludlow office was in her more than capable hands. Pauline fought her illness privately and with great courage, for which we all admired her."
David Lloyd, historian and former Mayor of Ludlow, frequently met Pauline in her role as news editor of the Ludlow Advertiser.
"Pauline was an enthusiastic and capable news editor. Although she had every reporter's desire to find good stories, she reported local affairs objectively. She was always willing to promote good causes. Pauline had a friendly and sunny personality and it was a pleasure to know her."
Jenny Smallman, Ludlow librarian and former Mayor of Ludlow, knew Pauline for many years, both as a councillor and through the library. "She was a very good friend and took a great deal of interest in local events. She was a very kind person and we will all miss her,"
Ludlow MP, Matthew Green, also paid tribute to the work of Pauline Clark. "Pauline was one of the best local journalists I came across. She had an instinctive sense of fairness and no hidden agendas. With a talent for spotting the local angle in stories she didn't shirk asking the difficult questions, which she did in her naturally pleasant and disarming way.”
